Professional Internship | NG Operations Specialist

Mission

The Natural Gas & LNG (NG&LNG) Business Unit is responsible for managing and optimizing Galp’s natural gas and LNG activities, including: Natural Gas supply in the Iberian market, Natural Gas and LNG trading and shipping operations, environmental products, financial derivatives instruments. We create value across Galp’s integrated energy value chain by:

• Identifying and capturing market opportunities;
• Maximizing the integrated business margin;
• Navigating energy market dynamics and volatility;
• Supporting Galp’s competitiveness and sustainable growth.

We transform opportunities in energy markets into value for Galp by combining commercial insight, risk management, and operational excellence.

Responsabilities

• Execute and manage contracts negotiated by the Natural Gas Supply & Origination, Natural Gas Trading Desk and Natural Gas Logistics teams, covering long-term agreements, logistics swaps, exchange-traded transactions and OTC market operations;
• Validate key contractual provisions, pricing terms, pricing calculations and supporting documentation, ensuring accuracy, compliance and operational readiness;
• Perform settlement and accrual activities with external counterparties, ensuring timely and accurate financial execution of transactions;
• Act as a key liaison between Trading, Finance, Legal, Logistics and external counterparties, ensuring efficient coordination, seamless execution and effective information flow across all stakeholders;
• Manage month-end accounting activities, including accrual calculations, reconciliations and intercompany invoicing processes;
• Support the automation, digitalization and continuous improvement of operational processes, identifying opportunities to reduce manual activities, mitigate operational risks and increase efficiency;
• Contribute to the development, maintenance and enhancement of automated workflows, dashboards and operational reporting solutions using digital tools such as Power Automate, Power BI and Excel;
• Support data analysis, process mapping and performance monitoring initiatives to identify automation opportunities and drive operational excellence;
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, contractual obligations and regulatory requirements associated with trading and logistics operations;
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements, enhance data quality and strengthen operational governance. 

What you will need

• Knowledge of accounting, financial settlement and month-end processes;
• Advanced proficiency in SAP/S4G and Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel;
• Demonstrated interest in digital transformation, process automation and operational excellence;
• Experience or knowledge of Power BI, Power Automate, Power Query, VBA or Python is highly valued;
• Strong analytical mindset, critical thinking and data-driven decision-making capabilities;
• Ability to identify inefficiencies, challenge existing processes and drive continuous improvement initiatives;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders;
• Results-oriented, proactive and accountable, with a focus on delivering high-quality outcomes;
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills, capable of managing multiple activities and deadlines simultaneously;
