European Regulation Strategy Specialist

The success of our company also relies on staying ahead of regulatory changes and integrating them into our strategic initiatives. The Policy and Advocacy team is at the forefront of this transformation by pushing for the right policy and regulatory frameworks for the new businesses to succeed. As an European Regulatory Affairs Specialist, your role will serve as a crucial link between our business operations and the European regulatory environment. Your insights and expertise will inform strategic decisions, ensuring that our projects and initiatives align with the evolving regulatory framework. You are not just mitigating risk, you are shaping Galp's future in the energy industry, enabling us to innovate responsibly and lead in sustainable energy solutions.

What you'll do

  • Understand and interpret energy-related regulations, directives, and legislation, which are likely to have an impact on the activities of Galp
  • Analyze and report on policy and regulatory developments, advising on the impact these may have on business operations and strategy, in order to provide Galp’s management relevant information for decision-making
  • Prepare ready-to-share presentations of the main European regulatory packages with clear narratives on their purpose and on how they impact Galp
  • Participate actively in new business development teams, representing Policy & Advocacy team by providing necessary regulatory information for the business cases
  • Develop and maintain a detailed knowledge of the energy industry, staying ahead of regulatory trends and changes.
  • Draft and review, together with the relevant experts in Galp´s Business Units, position papers prepared by Galp and its trade associations
  • Work closely with the trade associations Galp is a member of to anticipate risks, identify opportunities, define positions and strategies and reach out to key stakeholders in order to be a key driver on regulatory issues impacting our business

 

What you'll need

  • Degree in Economics, Management/Business Administration, or Engineering
  • Experience in industrial activities and/or energy sector is a plus
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex legal and regulatory documents
  • Strategic thinking and forward-planning capability, with the insight to identify regulatory risks and opportunities
  • Excellent work ethic and capacity to work on multiple topics and meet deadlines even under pressure
  • Be curious and eager to learn fast is a must
  • Good organizational skills, initiative, and autonomy
  • Business Acumen
  • Portuguese and English (excellent written and oral) / Spanish (could be a plus)
