Legal Counselor Energy Management 

Mission:

Galp is looking to reinforce it's teams with a highly skilled Legal Counsel to oversee the legal aspects of the businesses developed by Galp, in particular (although not limited to)  Energy Management businesses. The Legal Counsel is to advice and cooperate with the Business and Service Units in devising and building business solutions and behaviours that are both efficient and compliant with the applicable laws and guidelines, all of which by employing the highest standards of performance and taking into account the need to safeguard the company’s reputation and values.

 

What you´ll do:

• Give accurate and timely counsel to the Organizational Units in a variety of legal topics, including: 
    - Energy sector physical commodity trading (short, medium and long term) of petroleum and petroleum products (including evaluation of counterparty’s trading general terms and conditions); natural gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG) (including master trading agreements: EFET, Acuerdos Marco and MSAs respectively);
    - Supply contracts for petroleum, petroleum products and biofuels. Supply contracts for natural gas and LNG;
    - Shipping contracts (chartering).
• Legislation related with the aforementioned industries, in particular the oil, natural gas, LNG and biofuels sector legislation, contract law, commercial laws and import/export trade restrictions;
• Collaborate with the Organizational Units to devise efficient contractual constructs and negotiation strategies;
• Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations by practicing the appropriate level of due diligence;
• Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on possible legal issues;
• Communicate and negotiate with external parties (business counterparties and partners, regulators, external counsel, public authorities, etc.);
• Draft and solidify agreements, contracts and other legal documents to ensure the company’s full legal rights and business expectations.

 

What you’ll need:

• Bachelor degree in Law - with a Valid admission to the BAR Association;
• Native user of either Portuguese or Spanish (both written and spoken);
• Solid communication and writing skills in English (a strong plus);
• Experience in drafting and advising on the performance of civil and mercantile contracts.;
• Experience in the petroleum and/or natural gas/LNG sectors or in the shipping or energy industry or in the negotiation of energy products (nice to have);
• Communication capabilities, team player, leadership;
• Result oriented, resilience, persuasive capacity;
• Organization and planning.
