You will join the Energy Management business unit, which includes activities such as the supply, purchase, sale (trading) and shipment of oil, biofuels, natural gas, electricity and environmental products, both from Galp's own capital and from third parties.These operations add value throughout Galp's integrated business chain, as they seek to proactively seize commercial opportunities, maximise integrated margins and navigate the dynamics and volatility of the energy market.
About your Future Team
You will be part of Galp's Trading Strategies & Market Intelligence team in the Supply & Trading Americas area and will participate in activities related to energy planning studies for energy price forecasting, thermoelectric dispatch forecasting and credit and market risk management to support decision-making and optimisation of Galp's trading and own energy portfolios (electricity and natural gas). In addition, you will actively participate in the day-to-day internal routines of the area and will always be involved in the continuous improvement of internal processes and routines through the development of support tools, reports, and automation of routines and processes. Team spirit is essential, as there is direct interaction with the front and back office areas, natural gas programming and the portfolio management area. You will have the opportunity for continuous learning and will be prepared for career development in the gas and energy sector.
How will your day-to-day look like
The job position will The role will focus on the following areas:
Short- and medium-term energy price simulations, using Newave/Decomp/Dessem operating models through monitoring and sensitivity analyses of the main factors that impact energy prices, including but not limited to:
- Flow rates and natural inflow energy;
- Stored Energy;
- Energy Load;
- Meteorology;
- Exchange Limits;
- Hydraulic, Electrical and Volume Restrictions;
- Development of tools and reports in Excel, VBA, Python and PowerBi to support the analyses required by the area, in addition to routine activities.
