Senior Geophysicist

Bring your curiosity and passion into action.

You will join the Upstream business unit that develops a competitive and unique portfolio in the sector, with a carbon intensity well below the industry average. It comprises projects at different stages of maturity, from exploration to production. In addition to promising assets in Namibia and São Tomé and Príncipe, the portfolio includes one of the largest oil and natural gas discoveries of recent decades: in the pre-salt Santos basin in Brazil.

 

About your future Team

You will join the Geology & Geophysics team where you're going to perform geophysical studies in operated and non-operator assets regarding reservoir charaterization, seismic interpretation, seismic acquisition and processing and New Ventures activities. 

 

How will your day-to-day look like: 
• Execute and support reservoir characterization, including seismic attributes, AVO analysis, data conditioning, and seismic inversion for resource assessment, exploration, well placement, and asset evaluation.

• Support seismic acquisition and processing for both operated and non-operated assets.
• Conduct geophysical evaluations to inform exploration and appraisal decisions.
• Consolidate technical documentation, project data, and reports from internal and external sources.
• Integrate and manage project data across various G&G solutions, ensuring accessible geophysical data for audits and future use.
• Apply machine learning and AI in geophysics, evaluate new technologies, lead integration efforts, and mentor staff.
• Serve as peer reviewer for exploration and development projects.
• Adhere to and promote all Company QHSSE policies.
 
What makes you unique:
• Master in geophysics/geosciences.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in the upstream business, focused on subsurface.
• Expertise in principles of rock physics and quantitative seismic interpretation.
• Expertise in seismic acquisition and processing.
• Strong knowledge of seismic interpretation.
• Experience in West Africa projects.
• Must have experience in Jason/HR softwares, as well as other current computer software for geophysical/geology applications.
• Must be able to communicate and transfer knowledge effectively with peers, with less experienced staff, field staff and management.
